More Than Words

Lately, I have been at a loss for words. Actually, I’ve been afraid to say much at all for fear that my words may be taken out of context, misconstrued, or misinterpreted. Honestly, I’ve felt this way for a long while which is why blogging has been a challenge for me.

As I was struggling with my thoughts this week, I came across 1 John 3:18:

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions in truth.”

Let us love not with words but with ACTION, action in Truth.

Hmmm….I hear You, God. Right now words are hard, but You are reminding me that words without action in Truth are meaningless.

Practically speaking?  I don’t need to rely on my words to speak Your Truth. I don’t need to let my fingers do all the talking on social media or my mouth in social circles. I need to LIVE a life worthy of Your calling for me. I need to SHOW my love by how I live my life.

There is so much going on in the world today….so much hurt, anger, frustration, overwhelming emotion. What do we do?  Where do we turn?

If we haven’t yet given God full access to our hearts, this is where we start. We begin (or continue) in a relationship with Him. We turn to His Word and rely on the Spirit to penetrate our hearts and souls so that God’s Word, living inside us, can transform how we do life.  Transformation begins within so that life-living change can follow.

Together, we change the world one step at a time, by abiding in Him and showing love in action.  God knows what’s on the other side. He’s forever working His Provision in the seen but especially in the unseen.  His love is FAR greater than anything we could imagine, and our hope comes from His unfailing promises.  His love is GREATER than any burden we carry.

“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.” ~1 John 3:2

This world is broken, but it won’t be broken forever. The forever Healer of our hurt, pain, and devastation will return to call us to our new home. What a glorious day that will be!  Until then, let’s honor God by putting our love into action.

No words?  No problem!  His Word, THE Word, will guide our steps.

In Him,

Ashley
